Each book however has done very different things with this concept. Emotional adjustments and social complications abound with racial prejudices added to prejudices against nontraditional relationships. This one has a twist, the man and woman are bonded and they add a man to their relationship. I did like the characters, I thought each was fully developed, but I had a hard time buying into this one for some reason. But Kane writes very believable story lines - and that's something given she is writing m/f/m set in a time period I doubt many people took their clothes off during sex, let alone some of the tales she weaves so seamlessly. I doubt Kane can tell a bad story, but I gave it a four star review because, well, it just lacked - for me - a believable story line. The little boy is obviously a child of the 1980s, with his hot wheels tricycle and robot transformer type toys, but the story is timeless. The book gleams with crisp full-color watercolor illustrations, and the alligator has just the right touch of scariness. The last page shows the note he leaves for his father, telling him that there's an alligator in the garage and to wake him up ``if you need help.'' Children will relate to this young hero's triumph over normal childhood fears, and they'll love his clever solution to his problem. He then follows behind as the alligator gobbles up the goodies, fresh vegetables, fruit, and even ``the last piece of pie,'' making its way to the garage. He leaves a trail of food from his bed through the house to the garage door. Getting no sympathy from his parents who ``never saw it,'' he forms a plan of attack. PreSchool-Grade 2 In one or two lines of text per page and large, boldly colored illustrations, Mercer tells the tale of a little boy who is sure that there is an alligator under his bed. In the late 1960s and early 1970s Ballard focused on an eclectic variety of short stories (or "condensed novels") such as The Atrocity Exhibition (1970), which drew closer comparison with the work of postmodernist writers such as William S. According to Monk, Wittgenstein's struggles with the problems of logic invariably reflected the more personal woes of his frequently tormented life he rejected family and fortune, had consistently troubled intimacies, and simultaneously longed for and despised acceptance by peers and scholars. By deftly juxtaposing anecdotal details with clear, nontechnical analyses of Wittgenstein's philosophy, he allows even lay readers with no background in logic to follow the text. who studied philosophy at Oxford and York Universities, relies mainly on Wittgenstein's previously unpublished letters and notebooks, plus interviews with the philosopher's family and friends.
